urinary dysfunction

The optimal function of pelvic floor muscles is critical for normal urinary function. In instances when the pelvic floor muscles have been weakened by birth, trauma or surgery or age maintaining urinary continence can be difficult. On the other end of the spectrum, sometimes pelvic floor muscle are tight or overactive due to repetitive use, overuse ( sports, dance, Barre exercises) . In tis instance people often complain of urinary urgency ( urge incontinence) or frequency. Pelvic floor physical therapy can be immensely helpful to mange both ends of this spectrum.
